Me 'n my baby

I'm never in the photos in my own blog. We stopped for lunch yesterday, though -- we had been hoping to skate on the community rink at the café but it was too warm -- and one of the teens we had along for the ride was a bit of a shutterbug. Unlike my kids.

She took the camera I had brought and started snapping photos. Amongst them was a goofy one of Fiona and me. So here I am, in my own blog! With my "baby," who will soon be seven. Which is surprising in some ways, because it seems like just yesterday I was pregnant with her. And it means I'm getting close to 50. But in many ways she's seemed older than 6 for a long long time.

  1. What a lovely photo! Fiona looks a lot like you!

I suffer the same fate. I am always the one taking the photos so there are very few actually taken of me. Over the holidays there are a grand total of two. Yep, two. One of those is from Christmas morning and the other from skating New Year's Eve.

  8. I've been reading your blog for a few months now, so I decided it's time to comment. I have twins, a boy and girl, who are three and a half. My girl is an early reader. She just started this month to read full books by herself. Before she would just read words or phrases seperately but not string the words together into sentences. I like reading about Fiona because she reminds me a bit of Alexa.

We will unschool our kids, too. When they are little, it's so easy to go with all their interests because they have so many and they are so varied. It's interesting to read about your shift to some more formal structured work. I still see your kids directing most of this, though, which I think is the most important part of its sucess.

It will be interesting to see where my kids end up when they are 18 as far as passions, interests and goals are concerned. Could you imagine your kids where they are now in their lives when they were little? Did the things they did or were interested in when they were three and four give you an idea of the teens they would grow up to be?

It is nice to "see" you, and my first thought was "wow, you look so much like Erin!". :)
